Isa Oldflowers is the first-born son to House Oldflowers, which is among one of the richest and most influential within The Reach. As the son of the crippled Lord Oldflowers and Lady Daenys Velaryon, Isa was thoroughly groomed to be a suitable successor to the House by both of his parents. He was heavily tutored from a young age and quickly became known as a prodigy to others within The Reach.
The son of the Oldflowers was much too young to be involved in The War of Thorns, which took a financial toll upon the people of The Reach. His childhood was filled with anecdotes of the bravery displayed by the soldiers of The Reach. Tales of valor and propaganda which boasted The Reach's glory helped fuel Isa's motivations of becoming a suitable lord within The Reach.
Despite looking a rather solemn child in a house head by a loveless union, Isa was an ambitious child. He dabbled in many skills in order to sate his growing curiosity - though his dabbling got him in trouble at around 8 years old. Finding a discarded crossbow, Isa became excited to practice with it - despite having not yet been formally trained. After figuring out how to load it - he took the weapon to his family's stables with the intent of practicing on a bale of hay. The weapon proved too heavy, and in an unskilled hand his aim faltered, causing him to mortally wound one of the family's prized horses.
Terrified, he quickly admitted to his mistake - though this did not absolve him from punishment. Lord Oldflowers ordered his son whipped as a result. During this bout of discipline, Isa was given an unintentional blow to the right side of his skull. The blow caused him to black out. When he awoke seconds later, he noticed something off, but was too embarrassed to bring it to anyone's attention.
Instead Isa returned to his quarters, hoping that time correct the blur to his vision. It took several days before went to his mother and admitted to her that something was wrong, due to not wanting others to know of his vulnerability.
Following this incident, Isa became much more careful about not only his actions, but also his intentions. He grew closer to his mother, though he continued his attempts to win over his father's favor in order to secure his own place within the family.
For the rest of his young life, Isa was dedicated to perfecting his abilities in the subjects he was taught. He excelled at the written arts of diplomacy and showed a deep understanding of economics, governorship, and ancient language. Among his refined sense of decorum and education, the Oldflower heir also worked tirelessly to work on both his swordsmanship and marksmanship. Wishing to make a new name for House Oldflowers, he worked to fine tune his own physical abilities in order to be held in sharp contrast to his crippled father. His stubborn dedication paid off, earning him recognition among other residents of The Reach.
After years of working on himself, Isa's mother finally suggested it was time to begin thinking of his own future. She suggested he wed a woman from the Crownlands for his own political advantage, and Isa was quick to oblige. Though he had made peace with the idea of a pragmatic marriage, upon meeting his wife - he found himself quickly enamored with her.
In the next move to secure his next foundation as a political force, Isa has relocated to King's Landing with his wife. They are currently expecting their first child.
